Technical Operations Management Professional

Experienced IT professional, with a track record of bringing in best practices to growing organizations. In addition I have spent valuable time in a Value Added Reseller role, looking outside in to organizations in order to further maximize value to ITs customers, while attempting to lower overall cost. Several key projects include a design and roll out of a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, growth and stabilization of a highly scalable Email Infrastructure, and deployment and process standardization for a new key business application while rolling out a consolidated storage environment; with building the application on top of that storage environment .

Sales Engineer

  • Delta Square, Inc.
  • Jun 1, 2008 - Mar 1, 2010
  • DeltaSquare is a Value Added Reseller, partnered with Sun Microsystems, Hitachi, Vmware, EMC, Cisco, and Symantec. I worked with our clients to determine issues that they were having, then design a solution using our partner products or using our Professional Service resources to solve their problems. Once the sale was completed I then took over as the post-sale engineer, either working to implement or integrate the new products depending on the services purchased. In addition I worked to continue to be informed and well trained on all the newest technologies. I also worked to help determine future areas of growth for Delta Square, pushing more into the product set of our partners and trying to determine where the growth in the industry is moving. I worked in order to determine client's specific pain points, draw out additional requirements, and designed a solution to fit their needs. In all cases, it was an iterative processes and budget constraints and moving requirements caused projects to change as time went on

Sr. Systems Administrator

  • Synacor
  • Jun 1, 2007 - Jun 1, 2008
  • Lead Administrator for a large hosted email environment, running a clustered Zimbra environment, across nearly 50 severs and 1.5 million email boxes. Started as the only email administrator, but as the environment grew other administrators were brought in and I took over the roll of team lead. The Zimbra environment contained many open source components that, through working with Zimbra, and working internal, we either kept the stock software, or replaced it to increase flexibility and performance. A lot of time was spent dealing with spam. I implemented a replacement of the native postfix email transport agents, to the Cloudmark Gateway MTA (a bundled version of MessageSystem's Ecelerity MTA) to provide more robust spam filtering, as well as high level of scriptability within the MTA itself. Other components for Zimbra were upgraded and/or replaced as well including: LDAP directory, Perdition imap/pop proxy server, and other interactions between the other core products from Synacor into the Zimbra environment. In addition I explored other mail environments and different webmail frontends to augment or replace the Zimbra environment in the future. In addition to my role as Administrator, I also worked in presales engineering as well. On multiple occasions I went to potential clients to help sell them on the Synacor hosted email solution.
