Youth Director

  • Venice Free Methodist Church
  • May 1, 2000 - Dec 1, 2006
  • My job consisted of taking care of 3 groups: students, staff & parents. For students, we provided youth group (bi-monthly), bible studies (weekly) and Sunday school classes (weekly). Also, we were involved with quarterly service projects and seasonal events. The staff was shephered by me through teaching, encouraging and nurturing. My goal was to develop my staff as leaders according to their strengths. I tried to serve them while I led them. I took care of them; they took care of the youth. The parents were provided monthly workshops provided by myself or our parental liaison. They could access me via phone, web, e-mail or in person. I stressed we are all on the same team and we both love your kids. I was fortunate enough to have a Coach who helped me become more efficient and effective during my time. Of all the things I did, I enjoyed relating to the youth one-on-one outside of church and leading a guys high school/college bible study whom I continue to keep in contact with today. I believe the most important ministry happens outside the church walls, therefore I spent most of my time pursuing students on their "home turf."
